VONDELING Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 14%

Tim Atkin, a British Master of wine and accomplished wine commentator with over 30 years’ experience, has extensive knowledge when it comes to South African wines. He tasted over 1.381 local wines for his 2020 report, now in its eighth year and his most comprehensive to date. The wines are rated according to the international 100-point system. 

This wine was awarded a rating of 90 points.

Not quite as exciting at the Vondeling Merlot perhaps, but this is still an impressive Cabernet Sauvignon at the price. It's a warmer climate style, with supple blackcurrant pastille and mulberry flavours, subtle wood, graceful tannins and some underlying freshness.
